Prokofiev

Glenn Gould is best known (deservedly) for his Bach, but there are other treasures in his discography, including Schoenberg and (perhaps surprisingly) Brahms. Here’s Gould playing some mean Prokofiev:

    I’m curious – what Schoenberg? Although some Schoenberg has some lovely counterpoint in it, so maybe that’s what appealed to Gould.

    I would also recommend Gould’s recording of the Schoenberg Piano Concerto with Robert Craft conducting the CBCSO. He wrote a particularly colorful program note for this piece:
